We’re a few days into the “official” start of Autumn. In some areas of the country, the leaves have begun falling and the temperatures are dipping in the late afternoon and evening. The days are getting shorter, but the desire to enjoy delicious authentic pizza oven pizza never wanes!

To make your meal truly festive and reminiscent of the season, hollow out small pumpkins, drill holes in them or cut faces and place small votive candles inside them to help set the mood. Light some pumpkin or cinnamon-scented candles and surround them with fallen leaves you’ve picked up from the yard and place gourds in various shapes and sizes around the table and you’ve elevated it from a simple gathering to a night to remember.

We know you read, “bacon” and said, “I’m in! Make a whole wheat crust, add some thinly sliced apples and bacon to a crust topped with gouda cheese. Yum!

This will be a hit with your vegetarian guests. Form the crust, brush the top with olive oil, top with thinly sliced sweet potatoes, rip some kale and place on the crust then top with fontina cheese. Delicious and healthy!
Butternut, bacon, spinach and feta pizza.
Cube butternut squash, add pieces of bacon, spinach and sprinkle with feta cheese. Brush the crust with olive oil, add the butternut squash, bacon, spinach and onions if you’re so inclined. Sprinkle with feta and bake in your authentic pizza oven.
You can add more, or fewer ingredients to these pizzas. You might want to sprinkle on balsamic vinegar, salt and/or pepper to taste.

Grab your favorite pizza dough and make a dessert pizza to round out the evening. Brush the crust with melted butter.
Sprinkle on a cinnamon/sugar/rolled oats mixture that to which you’ve added melted butter. Top with thinly sliced apples. Once the pizza crust is done, make a glaze to drizzle over the top.
To make the glaze, beat together melted butter, confectioner’s sugar then drizzle over the still warm pizza. Serve with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!
