Autumn And The Cooking In The Pizza Oven Is Delicious!

We’re a few days into the “official” start of Autumn. In some areas of the country, the leaves have begun falling and the temperatures are dipping in the late afternoon and evening. The days are getting shorter, but the desire to enjoy delicious authentic pizza oven pizza never wanes!

If the cooler days have you yearning for cooking in your authentic pizza oven we thoroughly understand that. When that nip is in the air and the leaves are gently falling, our thoughts turn to “comfort” foods and the seasonal colors and flavors of autumn.

Do you want to tease and delight the palates of your guests at your next cookout or dinner get together? Grab some seasonal veggies, your favorite pizza dough recipe and fire up the authentic pizza oven.

To make your meal truly festive and reminiscent of the season, hollow out small pumpkins, drill holes in them or cut faces and place small votive candles inside them to help set the mood. Light some pumpkin or cinnamon-scented candles and surround them with fallen leaves you’ve picked up from the yard and place gourds in various shapes and sizes around the table and you’ve elevated it from a simple gathering to a night to remember.

At the authentic pizza oven, when your guests gather around offer them a step above the mozzarella cheese and pepperoni pizza and consider one of these options for your pizza party.

A whole wheat autumn apple and bacon pizza. We know you read, “bacon” and said, “I’m in! Make a whole wheat crust, add some thinly sliced apples and bacon to a crust topped with gouda cheese. Yum!

Sweet potato, kale and fontina pizza. This will be a hit with your vegetarian guests. Form the crust, brush the top with olive oil, top with thinly sliced sweet potatoes, rip some kale and place on the crust then top with fontina cheese. Delicious and healthy!

Butternut, bacon, spinach and feta pizza. Cube butternut squash, add pieces of bacon, spinach and sprinkle with feta cheese. Brush the crust with olive oil, add the butternut squash, bacon, spinach and onions if you’re so inclined. Sprinkle with feta and bake in your authentic pizza oven.

You can add more, or fewer ingredients to these pizzas. You might want to sprinkle on balsamic vinegar, salt and/or pepper to taste.

Don't forget dessert

Apple, cinnamon dessert pizza. Grab your favorite pizza dough and make a dessert pizza to round out the evening. Brush the crust with melted butter.

Sprinkle on a cinnamon/sugar/rolled oats mixture that to which you’ve added melted butter. Top with thinly sliced apples. Once the pizza crust is done, make a glaze to drizzle over the top.

To make the glaze, beat together melted butter, confectioner’s sugar then drizzle over the still warm pizza. Serve with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!

Celebrate autumn with friends, family and your pizza oven!

Invite your guests to dress for the weather, but have cozy blankets on hand for those who need a little extra warmth. Turn on space heaters or start up a fire in your outdoor fire pit. Enjoy the night with good friends, food and family.
