Hello friends, my name is Scott, and I was born and raised in Haverhill Massachusetts.

I’ve always had a love of food and cooking. If we had a gathering or any type of party, you would always find me slaying the grill. I also enjoy open fire cooking depending on the size of the gathering. Getting a Pizza oven has been on my mind for many years but never pulled the trigger.

Where are you from and a little background information on you?

I was born and raised in Haverhill Massachusetts. I lived there till I was around 28 years old then moved to a small town with my wife Heather in Southern NH called Danville. We lived there for 6 years and had our first child in that house.

We decided that we wanted a second child but now we need a bigger home so in 2010 we found a home that would be big enough to raise our family. This home would also have a separate detached in-law and my folks wanted to downsize so we purchased the property and have been there ever since.

I started working for an Engineering company back in 2000 and in 2008 I started a new venture as a Hydropower Technician and continued this for 13 years. Things changed and work was getting crazy, so I decided to go back to the same Engineering company that I worked for before Hydropower and I’m still here today.

I’ve always had a love of food and cooking. If we had a gathering or any type of party, you would always find me slaying the grill. I also enjoy open fire cooking depending on the size of the gathering. Getting a Pizza oven has been on my mind for many years but never pulled the trigger.

Which oven did you choose and why did you choose an Authentic Pizza Oven?

We have always had an inground pool area, but it was dated and needed some repairs, so in 2024, we had a company called Bayberry & Company come over and redesign the backyard pool area and give us some options.

It was late in the season, and we knew that the work would not start until 2025. So, in January, the demo was started, and the work began.

I knew at this point that I was going to find a way to get my pizza oven into this backyard makeover. I did not look at any other pizza oven. I knew right from the start that I was getting an Authentic Pizza Oven.

A good friend of mine is a chef and travels all around the world, and has built an amazing backyard entertaining area in his backyard and a few years back, he purchased one of your brick ovens. It caught my eye, and I had to know all about it.

He pretty much told me that when I was ready to get one, this is the brand that I should get. I took his word and here we are!

We have a lot of stonework in the backyard, and I wanted an oven that would stand out. We had already made the decision that red would be the color that we would use to give the area some pop.

I decided to go with the Maximus Prime in red, and we are so happy that we did. It looks great and fits in well with its surroundings.

Did you build a setup or have someone else do it?

After the backyard work was completed, I was able to decide on the area I wanted to install the oven. I envisioned the oven being raised up and having a working area next to it to make pizzas on.

I was able to use some leftover materials from the project, and I had a piece of granite that was leftover from the outdoor bar area and just like that, my visions came true!

What is your favorite thing to cook in your oven? And have you tried other foods besides pizza?

I don’t really have a favorite thing. We just really enjoy cooking in our oven. It has been a weekend tradition since we installed it.

I’ve cooked many different pizzas, steaks, chicken, fish, crab cakes, veggies and potatoes. So far, there are no complaints about anything that has come out of the oven.

We also cook corn on the cobb, and everyone likes to roast marshmallows over the coals after dinner.

It has been a real joy using this oven, it truly does bring friends and family together and everyone can’t wait to see what I’m going to try next!

One of my favorite pizzas is a Vermont-based pizza

  • I like to use a sourdough crust
  • Garlic butter base
  • Vermont sharp cheddar (the sharper the better in my opinion)
  • Thinly slices apples
  • Caramelized onions
  • Prosciutto

Then after the bake, I add a little bit of Arugula, then a drizzle of Real maple syrup.

A big hit at any gathering!
